Calling all Border Collie lovers! Maxwell is an 8-year-old abandoned Border Collie mix who needs a caring, comfortable home to spend his senior years in. When Maxwell was found, his hair was so matted that there were sores beneath the mats. He was anemic from the flea infestation he was enduring. A good grooming has made him much more comfortable and happy. He tested positive for heartworms - but completed his treatment on 9/13/06 and is now clear. He has been neutered and is now current on shots. Maxwell has some arthritis in his front right leg but a pill every other day eases that discomfort and he walks fine - and loves going on walks. Life has improved for Maxwell at our rescue - his eyes shine when he is spoken to. Everyone loves to pet him and he loves everyone back. True joy would be a home of his own and people of his own. A fenced yard and a loving, secure home is required. A donation is requested in lieu of an adoption fee.

COUNTRY K-9 RESCUE would like to thank the following groups for approving grants in 2007. Electric Membership Corp.. Fund-raising programs in 2007 also included a one-day road block bucket collection of over $2000. and our fourth annual "MUTT STRUT " - a day outing for dogs and owners at our local fairgrounds. Participants received T-shirts and dog bandanas and the opportunity to participate in contests, a fun agility course, a scavenger hunt and a silent auction. Local merchants provided appreciated support in the form of donations of goods and certificates for prizes. All funds received went to our Care Fund for veterinary expenses - about $5000. We were also able to fund the provision of animal rescue oxygen mask sets to all 7 of our county's fire stations. Who We Are

We at COUNTRY K-9 RESCUE rescue abused, injured or homeless animals. We arrange vet care when needed, and have all animals up-to-date on shots and spayed/neutered before adoption. If an animal is not able to be neutered because of size or age before adoption, we require proof of such service at the appropriate time by the new owner. Since 2005 our spay and neuter program has achieved 100% of adoptions. Our adoption contract also requires pet adopters to provide love, food, shelter and a fenced yard. If for any reason the adoption does not work out in the first 30 days, we require the animal be returned to us. After that time we can accept an animal back based on space availability - but we will always offer help if re-homing is necessary. We are a non-profit charity and ask for a donation with each adoption to our fund for future rescues. Our staff is all volunteer - all funds go directly to the care of our animals. Country K-9 also accepts donations of blankets, dog or cat food, cat litter, dog houses and cleaning supplies. All donations are tax-deductible and receipts are available. Country K-9 Rescue is also listed in www.GivingMatters.com website profiling non-profit groups.
